* Blogging is a link to the 21st Century that can be used as a powerful tool in todays classrooms. It is great for todays classrooms as it is easy to set up, control and to use.

*Blogging helps students share knowledge within a community and internationally, which allows for easy access for communicating.

*Personal blogs allows students to self direct their learning, through class guidelines which are negotiated by the class at the beginning of the activity.

*New literacies help extend traditional literacy by using new mediums and a wide variety of tools to explore text.

*Assessment is the biggest point in using new technologies in schools as most assessment is focused on traditional literacies (reading and writing using paper).

*In order for a school to effectively implement new digital and media literacies in schools, the school must first supply proper technical support and resources. The introduction of these technologies must be a gradual process.

What constitutes research and fair use?

Research:Is anything for the purposes of research or study, you may use the material provided the use is fair.

Fair use:

For hard copies 10 or more pages:

*10% of the number of pages

*one chapter

For electronic form:

*10% of the number of words.

You need to consider whether, in all the circumstances, if it is fair to use the material.

Can students (university or school) use music in videos that they make?

Student may be able to use music to dub into their videos if it is used for school class.
